A portrait series of five Norse Gods, Odin (the leading God), Thor (God of thunder and strength), Freyr (god of fertility), Njord (god of see and wind) and Baldur(the most beautiful god). The gods are portrait as they are described in “Edda”, an ancient book written by the Icelandic historian Snorri Sturluson around 1220. They are shown with objects and accessorise that characterised their role in the world of gods. However, I decided to change their gender, having women posing as the gods instead of men. Thereby I wanted to question the role and importance of gender compared to the one of position and power, an important factor in the roles of these mythical and historical beings.
